The police in Niger State have apprehended a 34-year-old man, Mallam Danyado Ibrahim, for allegedly inflicting injuries on one Adamu Bello of Dogon Dawa village in the Mariga Local Government Area of the state.
The police detectives attached to the Bangi Division confirmed the arrest of the suspect on Thursday following a complaint by the victim.
Ibrahim was alleged to have inflicted serious injuries on his victim for allegedly slapping his mother.
The suspect, who spoke in an interview with Northern City News, narrated what led to the altercation between him and the victim.
He said, “Bello was fond of insulting and beating my mother, and as a result, I used a stick to inflict serious injuries on him so that he would leave my mother alone.
“I went to his house with one locally-made revolver, one live cartridge and a stick to wage war against him so that he would learn his lesson. Despite going with a gun, I only used the stick to beat him.”
Ibrahim boasted about his assault on his victim, saying “I gave him what he deserved. I thought he was going to die, but he should thank God he survived it and I know he will not go near my mother again; I gave him what he deserved.”
The Public Relations Officer for the command, Muhammad Abubakar, explained that a locally-made revolver, live cartridge and two empty cartridges were recovered from Ibrahim, adding that he would be charged to court soon.
