A husband whose wife ran off with another man six days after their £30,000 Mexican wedding has revealed they are back together.
Andy Mitchell caused a sensation in June when he posted his wedding rings for sale and publicly accused his new wife of cheating on her hen night.
But it has now emerged that despite their bitter and very public split, Andy and Meaghan Mitchell are “testing the waters” of married life at their home in Kelty, Fife.
And Andy, 40, even has the phrase “fajita cheater” tattooed on the back of his neck as a permanent reminder of their early marital troubles.
Andy married Meaghan, 21, also from Kelty, in a lavish wedding ceremony in Cancun on June 3.
But he posted their wedding bands for sale for £400 just six days later, claiming she had been unfaithful on her hen night.
Meaghan denied being unfaithful before the wedding but admitted she had met and run off with another man.
To the amazement – and amusement – of Kelty locals, it has emerged the couple got back together in early October after spending four months apart.
Andy said today: “We’re seeing where it takes us. She made a mistake. She knows she made a mistake. I make mistakes. So does everyone. “I’m not going to hold it against her. I’ve done lots of stupid things and made decisions that I wish I hadn’t.”
He added: “And if it happens again, it happens again. Then it’s my fault for getting back with her. “We just want to move on and see what happens. We’re testing the waters. If it works it works. If it doesn’t it doesn’t. “If it doesn’t work out then at least I don’t have to look back and think, ‘I wish I’d given it a proper go’.
“I don’t want to look back in ten years’ time with regret, thinking, ‘Oh no’.”
Remarkably, Andy now boasts a tattoo on the back of his neck which reads: “Fajita cheater.”
He appears to have got the tattoo while they were still separated.
