England had a worrying moment in their warm up game in Sri Lanka after all-rounder Ben Stokes had to retire hurt. Stokes, who did not bowl at all on day one, was hit on the arm whilst batting and retired hurt but thankfully for England he returned to the crease later in the day and appears to be non the worse for the blow.
The same may not be said for Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka after he was struck on the helmet and needed 15 minutes of treatment on the pitch before being stretchered off.
Nissanka was wearing a helmet at short leg when Jos Buttler pulled a delivery from Nishan Peiris hard into the back of his head and after treatment he was taken to hospital for further assessment.
