President Muhammadu Buhari’s Twitter followers have challenged him to take responsibility for the mass killings of over 100 soldiers in Metele village, Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno State.
Boko Haram terrorists had invaded the military base on Monday, November 19th, where they targeted all the soldiers in the base.
A soldier who survived the invasion said the attackers struck at about 6 pm, noting that all the soldiers took cover when a soldier at the observatory alerted of the advancing large number of Boko Haram fighters towards the base in Metele.
Reacting to national responses on the attack, President Buhari had taken to his verified Twitter handle, @MBuhari, on Sunday, saying:
We must resist the temptation to play politics with the tragedy of the deaths of our soldiers. They are heroes on the frontlines, fighting to make Nigeria a safer place for us all. Rest assured that the circumstances that have led to these deaths will be comprehensively addressed.

However, his Twitter followers did not accept his counsel, but greeted his tweet with what appears to be angry responses as follow:
He doesn’t and won’t take responsibility.
He only blames.
Even a toddler takes responsibility when he gets spanked for pooing on himself or breaking a glass.
This god must not be blamed. He is like the Pharisee in that parable ” Lord u know I am not like that man who sins…”— PlateauLivesMatter (@PLLIVESMATTER) November 25, 2018
Talk is cheap. Might I add, that if it’s all the same, we will continue to see this statement for the political chess game that it is. How about taking responsibility for the deaths and actually making sure there’s no repeat. It’s all a game to you.

Have the Blamer in Chief, reduced from Commander in Chief ever taken responsibility for anything? His game has always been to blame others
— ehi okupa (@ehiokupa) November 25, 2018
He plays the blame game like none other. Expert level, highest score worldwide.
— Cai (@PrincessOnome) November 25, 2018
What about 2015 when you played politics with the lives of our departed Soldiers? I can’t wait to vote you out
Hypocrisy at its peak!!! What exactly are you addressing? Did you not have 3years+ to do so?

He never believed a day like this would come

You played politics during the last government. You are playing politics now. A responsible leader takes responsibility, unfortunately you do not take responsibility. You have never taken responsibility for anything since may 29,2015. Sure your definition of leading from d front
— PlateauLivesMatter (@PLLIVESMATTER) November 25, 2018
If not for politics why are you still keeping the services chiefs? after this national embarrassment
— Ene Odaudu (@OdauduEne) November 25, 2018
But sir, you once told us they have been defeated. Has the dead bones risen again? ? ?
— Oluwatosin (@certainty449) November 25, 2018
Equip the soldiers, feed them well and see to it that their families are well taken care of by paying them what’s due them . The hypocrisy of this government is annoying.
— Remy Salako (@peeremy) November 25, 2018
Why didn’t we hear about it on Television, Why are you just talking about it now after the video already circulated, Shame on you Mr just go back to your village.
— Afolabi (@Shegzzie) November 25, 2018
You taught Nigerians how to play politics with the tragedy and death of our soldiers when you dramatically declared in the Aso villa, that Book Haram has been defeated by you moribund government.
— Mazi Ekeoma Okechukwu (@okemba_1) November 25, 2018
I disagree on this. Citizens must hold ANY government in power to protect and account for the safety of every citizens, army or civilians. Their death is sickening. Address the cause and not citizens calling out their government
— Justice Maduforo (@JusticeMaduforo) November 25, 2018
This is simply rhetorics. Putting the lives of these men on the line without adequate & modern weaponry is suicidal, in fact systematic manslaughter. This is 2019, you don’t approach a war the way it was in your time in the Army. Weaponry has gone beyond mechanical.
— iamKris (@kristkrest) November 25, 2018
Sorry Mr President. I don’t think you feel anything for the families of the fallen gallant troops. You’re supposed to be the first to comment on this mishap.
This is no political banter, you failed to address the issue as supposed..You feel nothing!
— Chike Daniels (@ChikeDaniels1) November 25, 2018
Can you explain to Nigerians why you are still sounding like this after 3 years of taking control of the security apparatus? Have you forgotten how you played politics with similar situations in the build up of 2015 elections? Pls end these killings now.
— Eugene (@correctge) November 25, 2018
So says the man who played politics with every death when he was not in office…
Instead of addressing the cause of their deaths… You are more concerned about politics & how it undermines your administration.. #BS

@melodyamos001 this statement is trying to blackmail us into keeping quiet about this matter, all in the name of not trying to be political about it. we refuse! Buhari and his Generals have failed those young Patriots . he should go. they should all resign in shame.
