Activated charcoal is a product that has been used for decades for medical and beauty purposes. Its ability to bind to toxins and absorb them is second to none. This is what makes it a great product for fighting acne.
Along with its other benefits, activated charcoal is an effective treatment for acne. It balances oily skin, deep cleanses the pores and detoxifies the skin. We’re going to show you a simple activated charcoal face mask that acne won’t stand a chance against. Even if it’s from your wicked stepmother.
What you’ll need:
- Activated charcoal
- Bentonite clay
- Water
- Flat brush
- Essential oils (optional)

Mix the activated charcoal with the clay in a plastic bowl. Add a bit of water and mix until it forms a paste. Then using the brush, apply the paste to freshly washed face, carefully avoiding the eye area. If you don’t have a brush, you can apply with your fingers but it’s less messy with a brush. In fact, you probably shouldn’t have on any clothes that you care about during this process. Let the mask dry- until it begins to crack – and then rinse off properly.
Note that when mixing up the ingredients, You should NOT use any metal utensils (plates or spoons). This is because metals can actually render the bentonite clay ineffective, and you don’t want that. Activated charcoal is available to order here from N1000
