2018 is almost over and we feel it’s time we leave old dating habits and perceptions behind. One in particular is the concept of guys being the ones to make a relationship official. We feel if you want a serious relationship, you shouldn’t hide it!
We’re not particularly sure where this idea came from but we feel like it’s quite outdated. Not only are women made to take a back seat in a relationship, now it’s considered desperate if we try and be vocal about what we want out of a relationship. We hear about ladies who ask the “what are we” question being mocked and causing a frenzy on social media and we are not here for it. No matter what, we feel it’s a good idea and here’s why.

You’ll leave the situationship for a relationship
Uncertainty really puts your emotions in roller coaster mode. It’s only a serious relationship when it’s official. If you’re already acting like you’re in a relationship with a guy but nothing official has been addressed then you might just be in a situationship. Clearing things up with your partner isn’t as hard as you might think and will definitely get rid of those pondering thoughts. Your best option is to sit him down and straighten things out.

You’ll stop being anxious about him asking you out
Some girls are still waiting for a guy to declare their love for them. It’s silly because there’s an obvious solution: just do it yourself. And beyond the fact that it’s the 21st century where everyone’s in a fight against gender roles and double standards, it takes away anxiety and clarifies exactly where things are between you and your partner.
You’ll get to know if he’s serious about you or not
There’s no time to waste and . games. Guys sometimes have less than great intentions when they talk to a girl. Just because he keeps in touch or keeps you around doesn’t mean he’s actually interested in being in a serious relationship with you. Putting him on the hot seat really reduces the time you’ll spend trying to figure out if he’s serious or not

It puts you in control
Some might find this a bit controversial but there’s certainly nothing wrong with it. You can’t be waiting days, months and years for life to happen to you. It’s time you take control of every aspect of your life -including your love life and get it moving at your own pace.
If you don’t, someone else might.
There’s always someone else out there willing to do what you can’t. If you hesitate for too long, some other girl is sure to come along and snatch him up.
Making the first move can be very empowering. It’s all about going for what you want and getting rid of the damsel in distress perception. What’s the worst that can happen? He’ll say no? Then you’ll keep it moving like the boss that you are!
