Important Questions To Ask Your Partner About Children Before MarriageZUMI

0

There are many discussions to have with the person you’re supposed to marry and your plans to have or not to have children are included. Sure, you may not be able to delve deeply into every issue, but having a basic idea of where your partner stands on certain issues can make things easier on you.

You’re going to be parenting together and these are the first of thousands of decisions you’ll both make on that topic. So make sure you get started on the right foot with these questions:

1. How soon will we start having babies?

While some people believe they should wait a year, two or more after the wedding to have kids, others want to start trying during their honeymoon. Where do you and your partner stand on the matter? There’s no right or wrong answer to this. All you need to do is to come to the same decision.

2. How many children will we have?

If you want a big family and six kids for instance and your man only wants to have one, you shouldn’t wait to get married before you sort this out. The bigger the gap between your expectations  is, the more important it is to have a serious discussion.

3. What values will we raise them with?

We all have values we were raised with. While we intend to pass some on to our kids, we may have some we’d like to ditch. For example, how important will religion be in the life of the child? What other values would you like to pass on?

4. How will we split parenting duties?

Don’t wait until there’s an actual kid to look after before fighting over who gets up for nightly feeding and who changes diapers. You should talk about the expectations you both have now so you can figure out if this is the best person to make a baby with.
