Nigerian Lawmaker based in the UK, Fiona Onasanya, compared herself to Jesus after she was found guilty of lying to avoid a speeding charge.
Fiona Onasanya, was accused of colluding with her brother Festus after her car was clocked going 41mph in a 30mph zone in the village of Thorney near Peterborough.
However the UK based Nigerian Lawmaker who compared herself to Jesus and other biblical figures like Joseph, Moses and Daniel in a message she sent to her parliamentary colleagues, stated that in times like these the natural inclination of believers is to ask God why?
She said: “In times like these the natural inclination of believers is to ask God why? “I personally do not, because in my experience the answers are usually far above and beyond my reach. “What I do know is that I am in good Biblical company along with Joseph, Moses, Daniel and his three Hebrew friends who were each found guilty by the courts of their day.
“While God did not save them from a guilty verdict he did save them in it and ensured that their greatest days of impact were on the other side of a guilty verdict.”
“Joseph was falsely imprisoned after he rejected the advances of his master’s wife and she told her husband he had tried to attack her. After his imprisonment he was made Vizier of Egypt.
“Moses led the Jews out of slavery in Egypt and wrote down the Ten Commandments. After his imprisonment under the Pharaoh, Moses is said to have literally parted the Red Sea in order for his followers to escape.
“Daniel was a young Jewish youth taken captive in Babylon. He interpreted dreams and received apocalyptic visions.
She went on to compare her experiences to that of Jesus:
“Of course this is equally true of Christ who was accused and convicted by the courts of his day and yet this was not his end but rather the beginning of the next chapter in his story.”
“Jesus Christ literally rose from the dead following his execution, according to the New Testament. He went on to appear to his disciples several times before his ascension into heaven to rule the Universe at his father’s right hand.”
The UK based Nigerian lawmaker who will be sentenced alongside her brother on a date yet to be determined, as elected in June 2017 and was found guilty of one count of perverting the course of justice following a retrial at the Old Bailey.
