In an effort to support the ongoing Military Operations, the Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, has advocated for the integration of hunters and more members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in the ongoing military operation in Borno State.
The Governor advocated this to the new Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj. Gen Benson Akinroluyo who paid him a courtesy visit alongside officers and some commanders of the theatre of operations at the Government House, Maiduguri.
In his remarks, Governor Shettima after welcoming and thanking the Theatre Commander and his delegation for the visit, said the hunters and vigilantes will consolidate the troops of the Nigerian Army fighting Boko Haram to boost the counter-insurgency operation.
The Governor stated that the Government has procured about 50 vehicles and other logistics for the hunters/vigilante operations which will be launched soon, in addition to the already existing logistics already put in place by the Government to support the security of Maiduguri and its environs. This is also in view of the coming 2019 General Elections which is fast approaching, which the Governor said there will be a lot of mischief makers who would want to cause confusion.
Governor Shettima said the military is doing well and he wants the presence of the vigilante and hunters to complement and add to the efforts of the military.
The Theatre Commander, Maj. Gen. Benson Akinroluyo was the General Officer Commanding 3 Division, Jos, responsible for the tracking down of criminals that killed and buried late Maj. Gen. Alkali and the recovery of his remains.
Maj. Gen. Akinroluyo expressed delight to formally introduce himself as the Theatre Commander to the Chief Security Officer of the State, Governor Shettima, saying it is his responsibility and he met with the Governor in about four fora before his appointment.
