An accused thief was almost lynched to death by an angry who mob beat him to stupor in Calabar Municipality local government area of Cross River State.
It was gathered that the teenager known as Networking, was arraigned by the mob after stealing a car battery at Ediba Qua Town, around Assemblies of God Church, Calabar.
According to eyewitnesses, Networking was caught in the morning after stealing a car battery belonging to one man (name withheld) in their area on Friday night.
The eyewitness said, “the boy stole the battery last night but was seen by one of the boys that live opposite the street. So, when this my neighbour came to start his car this morning, it didn’t start, that’s when he realised his battery has been stolen after thoroughly checking the car for faults.
“It was one guy that recognised him (the thief) and went to show the man and behold the battery was seen in his house. He was preparing to go and sell it.”
