So all the festivities from the holidays are slowly dwindling. You’ve had your share of Christmas and New Year chicken topped off with lots of sweets, pastries and all sorts of junk.
You may or may not have gained some holiday weight. And perhaps you have noticed that your teeth are no longer as bright as they used to be. No need to frown. Here are some things you can do if you are beginning to have yellow teeth.
Brush Your Teeth Thoroughly And Regularly
The first step to whitening the teeth if they are turning yellow is consistent and thorough brushing of the teeth. To be sure you are brushing your teeth correctly, you should take note of a few things:
-Brush two or three times a day
-Brush for 2 to 3 minutes at a time
-Be sure to brush every surface of each tooth
-Make circular motions when brushing
-Avoid brushing the gums or brush them very gently
-Be sure to reach the teeth at the back of your mouth
Use Baking Soda And Hydrogen Peroxide
Baking soda and hydrogen peroxide are known to be one of the best homemade teeth whitening combos ever. Simply make a paste out of it by mixing 1 tablespoon of baking soda with 2 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide. In the same ratio you could also create a mouthwash. Use this sparingly as they tend to make the teeth very sensitive.
Use Activated Charcoal
Activated charcoal is very useful in whitening teeth. It is highly absorbent and removes bacteria and toxins from the mouth. Open an activated charcoal tablet and put it on your toothbrush. Then, brush your teeth in a gentle circular motion for about 2 minutes. When you are done spit out the charcoal and rinse your mouth. Be careful not to brush the gums though because it can be abrasive.
Try Oil Pulling
Coconut oil is effective for this process. Oil pulling or swishing with coconut oil could be effective in reducing plaque buildup on the teeth. Plaque buildup contributes to yellow teeth so swishing with coconut oil can prevent it. Simply take one tablespoon of coconut oil and swish it around in your mouth for about 5 minutes. Spit it out and rinse your mouth with warm water. Do this every night after dinner. Your teeth will begin to look brighter after a few weeks.
Eat Lots Of Fruits And Vegetables
The nourishment doesn’t start in the stomach, it starts from the teeth. The water content of fruits cleanses your gums and teeth helping to remove the plaque and bacteria that cause yellow teeth. From your teeth to other parts of your body, these fruits provide needed nourishment.
