The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies against interfering in the conduct of February 16 and March 2 general elections, as any attempt will be strongly resisted.

The presidential candidate handed down the warning at a PDP campaign rally held on Wednesday in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.

Abubakar, while addressing the mammoth crowd of supporters, said, “People of Yobe State, three and the half years, you have voted APC and I want to ask, what has APC done to you? APC has promised to restore security, provide employment and revive the country’s economy all have failed thereby subjecting you to object poverty, hunger and insecurity among others.

“People of Yobe State, all Nigerians have made a positive change; you should not be left behind. Don’t make the mistake of re-electing APC again,” he warned.

He assured the electorate that, if elected into power, his government will be exclusively for youth and women, saying, electing him as president was a rare opportunity for people of Northeast since he came from the region.

The former Vice President also warned security agencies and the electoral umpire against interfering in the conduct of the general elections.

On his part, the PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus, said the wind of change blowing across the nation has arrived in Yobe State.

“By the mandate of ordinary people, I believe and convince on behalf of the leadership of the party that your votes will count on the February 16th and March 2nd. Therefore, come out in your numbers to vote and defend it,” he urged.

The National chairman alleged that INEC planned to use manual collation of results instead of e-collation in Borno and Yobe States, claiming that will give room for results manipulation.
