21-Year-Old Liverpool Striker To Earn Super Eagles Call-up.

Liverpool forward Taiwo Awoniyi could win a first call-up to the Nigeria squad after hitting form on loan in Belgium.

The 21-year-old striker signed for Liverpool in 2015, but has been loaned out five times as he is not yet eligible for a work permit.

He endured a frustrating first half of this season at Gent, which saw his season-long loan cancelled early after scoring just three goals in 22 appearances in all competitions.

But after returning to Belgium with Royal Excel Mouscron in January, he has found goalscoring form, netting four times in five appearances, the Liverpool Echo reports .

Awoniyi had a spell on loan with Mouscron last season, and they have won every match since re-signing him to nearly double their points tally and move up to 10th place in the Jupiler Pro League.

Reports in Nigeria are suggesting Awoniyi is now under consideration for the Super Eagles’ squad for the African Cup of Nations this summer.

The forward signed a new long-term contract with Jurgen Klopp’s team last summer, suggesting the Liverpool boss still sees him as part of his future plans.
