Boniface Okoloho, chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ohimini local government area of Benue state, has been killed.
He was said to have been ambushed and shot dead by unknown gunmen on his way home on Saturday night.
Moses Yamu, spokesman of the police command told TheCable on Sunday: “I can confirm the APC chairman in the area was killed. He was killed by unknown gunmen in the night yesterday.”
He also said the police have commenced investigation to unravel circumstances surrounding the sad incident and are also on the hunt for the suspects behind it.
The incident happened the day the presidential and national elections were scheduled to hold.
The elections have since been shifted by a week.
