Report has it that unknown gunmen stormed Gishiri community, a suburb of Abuja and shot two men, killing them on the spot. It was gathered that the invasion took place at about 3 am on Friday, February 1 (today).
An eye witness Alex Matthew said one of the victims whose name was given simply as Obadiah a.k.a Rasta who owns a fast food joint and a kiosk was fetching water in preparation for the day’s activities. Little did he know that his death was around the corner as the gunmen trailed him to his apartment and shot him dead.
His next door neighbour, an electrician whose name was given as Joseph was said to have come out to ascertain the cause of the gunshot. This however did not go down well with the gunmen as they also shot him dead on the spot.
Meanwhile, a roommate to Mr. Joseph, who gave his name as Ishaya told ABN TV that he escaped death by the whiskers. “I don’t know them (gunmen) because I just came from the village. Had it been I knew them, they would have killed me too because I came out with Joseph but it’s him they shot” he said.
He also added that nothing was stolen from the deceased persons.
The residents of the relatively peaceful community have expressed shock over the incident.
