Police Read Riot Act Ahead Of Buhari’s Visit To Ogun State.

The Ogun State Police Command has warned that any act of thuggery and hooliganism during the slated visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to the State on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, would be met with stiffer penalties.

Reiterating its stance against crime and criminality, the Command said it would not tolerate any act capable of undermining the peace of the State and cause Buhari any form of embarrassment, adding that the law is no respecter of anyone and, therefore, it would not hesitate to deal decisively with anybody or group that attempt to foment any form of trouble or engage in any act of thugery and hooliganism during the visit.

Disclosing this in a press statement, the Command stated that in preparedness for the visit, the Ogun State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has put in place robust and elaborate security measures to ensure a hitch-free rally by the president.

“The command’s special units namely, the Police Mobile Force (PMF), the Special Anti-Robbery Squard (SARS), the Anti-Kidnapping and Cultism Unit, the State Intelligence Bureau (SIB), the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department(SCIID) as well as all the Area Commands and Divisions, have been fully mobilized and put on red alert by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, to provide needed security and checkmate activities of unscrupulous elements who might want to use the opportunity of the campaign to wreak violence on innocent members of the public”, the statement, signed by the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said .

According to the release, “Ogun State is known, nationwide, as a peaceful State, for which the Commissioner of Police therefore enjoins the good people of the State to join hands in making the visit of Mr. President a hitch-free one”.
