Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of elections in Southern Kaduna, Dr. Emeka Nwonyi, has confirmed the interception of over thirty-seven vehicles with suspicious persons in Zangon Kataf Local Government Areas and assured that the situation was under control.
Nwonyi who spoke to newsmen in an interview at Madakiya in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area said the rules of elections stipulated that movement of persons outside of election duties was restricted as such, the people had no reason whatsoever to be on the road.
When contacted, Mr Emmanuel Jakada, Kaduna State APC Chairman said it was impossible for him to identify all party agents, adding, “security agents are saddled with the responsibility of identifying fake agents”.
Jakada urged the people of the area to conduct themselves in an orderly manner to ensure peaceful elections.
Also, a resident of Madakiya, Mr. Neyu Adam, told Salama News that over thirty suspected vehicles traveling along Madakiya-Kafanchan road were stopped for questioning by security agents and from what residents in the area observed, responses were not satisfactory.
“We believe that party agents are meant to be stationed at their respective pulling units and not move in motorcade.
“We hope that security agencies would expose every person or group of persons determined to jeopardise this election,” he said.
