There was commotion yesterday night following sporadic shooting around Federal Polytechnic Oko campus in Anambra state, which led to the death of one and a gun injury to another.
Students reportedly ran helter skelter for safety as the shooting continued unabated.
The incident which happened around FCMB Bank, close to the popular Tipper Road, witnessed some gun wielding men, who alighted from a motor bike and started shooting all round, sending students crowded along the bank’s ATM running for safety.
When the shooting subsided, a tricycle rider, popularly called keke rider -was shot dead at close range, as the bullet passed through his forehead, while another, a male was shot in the neck as he was rushed to an unknown hospital by students.
The real reason behind the shooting was not yet known, as many students attributed it to be cult related, others to robbery which now seem ‘normal’ in Oko without any measure to curtail it and others also said it was hired assassination.
The sporadic shooting has been witnessed for two days now, as that of yesterday took place at the popular total filling station, which sent market women, Okada riders and others running for safety.
