Police say a 35-year-old man got into a relationship with a high school teacher in order to have sex with a student at the school. Officers say the teacher knew about the inappropriate messages but didn’t report it.
Torstein Torsteinson reached out to an underage girl on Facebook Messenger back in 2018 to have sex.
When that did not work Torsteinson got into a relationship with Sherry Murphy a teacher at Estill County High School in Kentucky, USA
Murphy was aware of the messages but did not report them. Troopers also say Torsteinson and Murphy tried to cover up what happened.
“We conducted our investigation and then I’d set up a meeting to speak with her and then after we had spoke for several minutes, she decided she’d resign her position,” said Superintendent Jeff Saylor.
Murphy is no longer a teacher and is on house arrest.
Torsteinson is behind bars and is set to face a judge later this month.
