Top officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have gone into hiding to avoid arrest by operatives of the Special Presidential Investigation Panel (SPIP), who swooped at their offices and houses.
SPIP officials told SCORENIGERIA that NFF president Amaju Pinnick, vice-presidents Seyi Akinwunmi and Shehu Dikko as well as NFF executive Ahmed Yusuf ‘Fresh’ and general secretary Mohammed Sanusi have jumped administrative bail granted them by the presidential panel.
They have also been invited several times to “clear their names”, but have refused to honour these invitations.
NFF executives Yusuf ‘Fresh’, Ibrahim Gusau and Inuwa Ahlan took to their heels when the SPIP operatives swooped the NFF head office in Abuja.
NFF general secretary Sanusi was reported to have traveled out of town since this week and so he was not in the office or at his house.
The operatives also stormed both the house and private office of Shehu Dikko in Abuja, but he was not found.
“Why are they on the run if they are clean?” an official asked rhetorically.
“What is certain is that they cannot continue to run from the law forever.”
