Zainab Aliyu has arrived Nigeria on Monday, May 13, after she was freed by the Saudi Arabia government. Recall that the Nigerian student was arrested for drug trafficking in Saudi Arabia and later released after intervention by the federal government of Nigeria. The situation had also led to widespread protest and condemnation. Nigeria’s foreign affairs ministry said on Thursday, May 2, that its silent diplomatic efforts culminated in the release of Zainab Aliyu and Ibrahim Abubakar arrested by Saudi authority for drug related offence.
