Four FRSC officials identified as Francis Igboh, Sunday Ogi, Samson Alolade and Joseph Onolade are currently being investigated by the Edo State Police command over the alleged murder of 36-year-old Odion Omafo Samuel who was buried in a shallow grave.
Odion was allegedly beaten to death after putting up a resistance when the FRSC officials allegedly tried extorting the driver of an Audi 80 car he boarded at Okhuaihe Hill along Benin-Agbor Road on October 14, 2019.
While the driver of the car fled the scene of the incident, the deceased who was confirmed dead when rushed to the hospital was buried in a shallow grave by the FRSC officials.
The driver’s account of the incident when arrested for kidnapping Odion who didn’t return home, led to the arrest of two out of the four FRSC officials after investigation was carried out by the police. Odion’s corpse was exhumed after the FRSC officials led detectives to the bush where they buried him.
Confirming the incident, Edo State Police Spokesperson DSP Chidi Nwabuzor said it was a case of murder.
“Our operatives in the homicide section of the State Criminal and Intelligence Investigation Department (SCIID), police headquarters, Benin City are investigating the case.
“It is a case of murder”. DSP Nwabuzor said.
