Birthdays come once in a year, so is the celebration. Some would have parties, take a few friends out on their big day and make the day a memorable one.
It has become a trend in secondary schools as well as tertiary institutions to celebrate a person’s birthday in the form of torture and “jungle justice”.
This is common with teenagers and youths and it got us confused because this ritual can be dangerous. Instead of buying the celebrant a cake and taking them out to have fun on their special day, they are beaten, cursed by their friends, “punished” and man-handled.
