A report by Daily Independent indicates that Dogara’s defection to APC may not be unconnected to President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption war and 2023 presidential election. The newspaper noted that shortly after Dogara’s defection, a source said that his exit from the PDP is not unconnected to the activities of anti-graft agencies, probing some past and present political holders.
The source was quoted to have added that Dogara may have panicked and dumped the PDP to avoid unforeseen circumstances. Reacting to this development, the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), said that APC may have lured Dogara into APC, using the propaganda of northern Christian VP to Tinubu. CUPP, in a statement by its spokesman, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere said:
“I hope they have not used the propaganda of northern Christian VP to Tinubu to lure my very good friend to the APC party that might not survive the upcoming intraparty 2023 crisis. “PDP governor of Bauchi treated Dogara bad and sidelined him despite the game-changer vote from Dogaras Tafa Balewa federal constituency but joining the fractured APC with a weak leader, who is already losing respect among his party men may hang his political survival in the balance. We will be watching how all these play out.”
