Former Manchester United defender, Gary Neville, has said Liverpool need to sign Thiago Alcantara this summer, to present their current players with a “challenge”.
Jurgen Klopp chose not to bring in any new faces before last season.
It was a decision that paid dividends, as the Reds won the Premier League title.
With just a few days left to the start of the new season, Neville has warned that the Liverpool squad need a fresh face in the dressing room.
He told Sky Sports: “The one that I think that scarily would excite me the most is Thiago to Liverpool. I think Liverpool need that player.
“Because the team’s been so good, the coach has been so good it would feel like if they didn’t sign someone at this point, the players in that dressing room would probably want that challenge of a new player coming in.
“He’s such a brilliant player. Liverpool need [a player like that.”
