At UFC on FOX 29 on April 18, 2019, Israel Adesanya defeated Martin Vettori via split decision at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Ariz.
The judges scored the fight 29-28 x2, 28-29 in Adesanya’s favor.
Since that fight, Adesanya (20-1) won seven straight and earned the UFC middleweight title. He fell short via unanimous decision against Jan Blachowicz at UFC 259 for the UFC light heavyweight title this past March in his last trip to the Octagon.
Vettori (17-4-1) has won five straight fights since his loss to Adesanya, including a unanimous decision win over Kevin Holland at UFC Vegas 23 this past April.
Adesanya vs. Vettori 2 will be the main event for UFC 263 on June 12. Adesanya will try to defend his title for a third time.
