Olakira, the Nigerian Afropop singer, says making hit songs is difficult, and as such, listeners should stream and buy songs legally.
The 31-year-old record producer made the remark at the listening party of ‘4Play’, his latest extended play (EP), yesterday.
Olakira, whose real name is Adelusola Adefemi, said talented artists are moving out of Nigeria because fans are not appreciating them enough.
“I think we need to step up because that is why you see some of our artists going outside the country for performance and relocation,” he said.
“Nigeria is where talents are, we need to appreciate our people. It is not easy to go to the studio and record songs and get a hit.
“So Nigerians should please stream and buy songs, not download illegally because everything is still business.”
