Jamie, the father of Britney Spears, an American singer, has been suspended as her conservator.
In 2008, Jamie was granted conservatorship after Britney was purportedly hospitalised over mental health issues.
All decisions about Britney’s personal, medical, and financial affairs had been completely controlled by her father.
Britney, however, has been in a legal battle with her father who she accused of exploiting her.
She had filed a petition in court to replace him with Jason Rubin, a public accountant at Certified Strategies Inc. in California.
Brenda J. Penny, a judge at LA superior court, yesterday, ruled to suspend Jamie as the conservator of his daughter’s estate.
It is understood that John Zabel, a certified public accountant, will step into that role for now.
Penny installed Zabel as a temporary conservator of Spears’ estate until the next court hearing, which is scheduled for November 12.
At that point, the judge plans to terminate the conservatorship, freeing the 39-year-old singer.
Mathew Rosengart, Britney’s attorney, had pushed for Jamie’s removal immediately before any other actions were taken.
He had stated that it was necessary for the singer’s wellbeing.
