A Benue State University (BSU) graduate and candidate of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) identified as Joy Onuh has been allegedly raped and murdered.
The dead body of the 24-year-old graduate of mass communication, who owned a business named Sparklight Collections, was found on Wednesday.
Israel Elube, her brother, who spoke to newsmen said her dead body was found at about 5 pm at the federal low-cost residence in Makurdi.
He said the deceased got an order through social media to supply a turtle-neck polo T-Shirt for a customer on Tuesday and went missing from there.
“All efforts to reach her proved abortive and we were worried because she’s not a type that goes out without telling the people around. Her body was later found around North bank Makurdi lying lifeless,” Elube said.
Also speaking, Joy’s mother described the deceased as “having been the breadwinner of the family”.
“Joy is my husband, she’s my father, she’s the breadwinner of my family since her dad died,” Onuh said.
“Joy graduated and have just been mobilised for NYSC but decide to do business so as to find money to enable her travel for the orientation.”
Catherine Anene, the Benue police spokesperson, said efforts are being made to apprehend her killers.
“The police have long time swung into investigation and will bring the culprits to book,” Anene added.
According to Kangeh Samuel, her pastor, the deceased’s remains have been deposited in the mortuary.
