Former Rangers and Everton boss Walter Smith dies

Rangers legend Walter Smith has died after battling an illness, the club announced.

He won the latter seven titles of Rangers’ remarkable nine-in-a-row run in the 1990s and took the club to the UEFA Cup final in 2008 after returning for a second stint as manager in 2007.

Between those stints, he also managed Everton and the Scotland national team, succeeding Berti Vogts.
