The Super Eagles of Nigeria have dropped two places from 34th to 36th in the world based on FIFA’s latest rankings.
According to the list released yesterday by the world football governing body, the three-time AFCON champions also maintained their fifth position on the continent.
Nigeria’s drop in the current global rating was due to the disappointment lost to the Central African Republic (CAR), which ranked outside the first 100 teams in the world, during the Qatar 2022 qualifier in Lagos earlier in October.
A late strike by Karl Maxence Namnganda ended the Super Eagles’ 17-year-old World Cup qualifiers’ unbeaten run. The Eagles, however, got their revenge after defeating CAR 2-0 in the return leg days after.
