‘I’m a Mami water’ — Chikwendu says amid custody tussle with Fani-Kayode
Mami water” is a Nigerian term for mermaid — a creature that has been associated with evil and destruction.
In a string of videos shared on her Instagram stories yesterday, the former beauty queen said she has been told that she is a mermaid but “Africans take this Mami thing too seriously.”
Chikwendu added that she belongs in the ilk of the “good ones” and not the evil kinds.
I’m supposed to be a Mami (water). I was told I’m a Mami. I was actually told I’m a Mami. But you know how Africans take this Mami thing too seriously. It’s actually not that serious,” she said.
“If I’m supposed to be a Mami, then I’ll be a good one.”
