Nigeria records 4035 new cases of covid-19 and 2 deaths
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, announced four thousand, and thirty-five (4,035) confirmed new cases of coronavirus, also known as COVID-19 in the country.
Lagos State which is the epic center of the pandemic leads with 3,393 out of the total number of cases recorded in the country.
The virus also killed two (2) persons on Wednesday.
New cases of the pandemic have continued to rise for seven consecutive weeks across Africa including Nigeria, signaling the third wave as the country confirmed the deadly Delta variants.
The country has also confirmed a new variant of COVID-19 called Omicron.
Nigeria is battling the fourth wave of the virus.

Additional 2,536 confirmed cases reported from Lagos state for 13th (37), 14th (365), 15th (197), 16th (577), 18th (742) & 19th (618) December
42 confirmed cases reported from Akwa Ibom state for 20th (13) & 21st (29) December
9 confirmed & 6 discharged cases reported from Enugu state for 21st December
0 cases reported from Gombe, Osun, and Sokoto State,” NCDC said.
As of Wednesday, December 22, there are 16,569 active cases in Nigeria.
