#AFCON2021: We’ll fight hard to defeat – Guinea Bissau coach Baciro Cande
Coach of Guinea Bissau, Baciro Cande, has vowed that Wild Dogs will fight hard to defeat Nigeria’s Super Eagles in their Group D Africa Cup of Nations encounter on Wednesday (today) in Garoua.
Guinea Bissau need a victory that may secure their passage to the next round, given the result of the other group match between Egypt and Sudan at the same time, or as one of the best third-placed teams in the groups.
Nigeria top Group D with six points and are insurmountable going into the last round of matches, with three-pointer Egypt, who are second on the log and also with the arithmetic possibility of ending up with six points, having lost to the Eagles in their first match and therefore inferior to Nigeria on the head-to-take rule.
Cande said, “The match will be difficult, but it is important to get three points if we are to continue competing.
“We know Nigeria are a strong team, but we are well prepared, and we will play to win. We have to believe in our ability and fight for what we believe in because this is football.”
Also, Goalkeeper of Guinea Bissau, Jonas Mendes, said they will battle the Super Eagles with all their might and they were determined to ensure they do not go home after the tie.
He said, “We know that the opponent is strong, but we trust in ourselves and nothing is easy, but we will make every effort and it is important to get the first victory and we hope to achieve it in tomorrow’s match.
“The last match was difficult for us, but we are professional players who know how to overcome difficult moments and prepare for what is to come, especially as we strive to make our country and our fans happy.”
