Laurie John-Phillip charged with murder of Emeli Sande’s rapper ex-boyfriend Hypo
Laurie John-Phillip, from Enfield, north London, is accused of killing the performer, whose real name was Lamar Jackson, shortly after midnight on Friday.
Mr Jackson, 32, whose tracks included Flex On My X, First Night and No L’s, was stabbed to death at a party in Woodford Green, east London.
Police were called to the party at about 12.10am and found Mr Jackson, from Hackney, suffering stab injuries.
Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, Mr Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene.
His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
John-Phillip was arrested on Saturday and was due to appear at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with murder and possession of a bladed article.
Mr Jackson dated the singer Emeli Sandé for about a year before splitting in 2017.
