‘Leave our classics alone’ — Ego Boyo hits ‘Glamour Girls’ producers
Ego Boyo, the ace actress and filmmaker, appeared to have taken a swipe at the producers of the remake of ‘Glamour Girls’, the 1994 Nollywood blockbuster.
Featuring the likes of Nse Ikpe-Etim, Joselyn Dumas, Toke Makinwa and Sharon Ooja, the movie premiered on Netflix on Friday.
The movie tells the tale of four single women intertwined in a web of questionable jobs in Nigeria’s traditional patriarchal society.
Shortly after the movie premiered, the producers came under backlash on social media platforms.
The majority of movie lovers faulted the overall execution of the two-hour project including its storyline, scenes and dialogues.
In a tweet, Ego Boyo also aimed a thinly-veiled dig at the producers of the movie, saying that Nollywood “classics should be left alone.”
According to the 53-year-old, even if a classic is to be reworked, it should be done right and made “worth watching”.
#leaveourclassicsalone or at least do the work to make them worth watching
