Hilary duff pays tribute to late ex Aaron Carter

Hilary Duff shared a tribute to her ex-boyfriend Aaron Carter on Instagram following his death on Saturday, November 5.

Carter, 34, the brother of famed pop icon and Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter was ‘found dead in his bathtub’ at his home in Lancaster, Calif., Saturday.

The 35-year-old mother of three wrote, ‘For Aaron — I’m deeply sorry that life was so hard for you and that you had to struggle in-front of the whole world.

‘You had a charm that was absolutely effervescent … boy did my teenage self love you deeply. Sending love to your family at this time. Rest easy ♥️.’

Carter’s life was often fodder for tabloids, not only in connection to his brother, but with his dating exploits, as he was linked to fellow child stars Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan

Fans took to the comments section to join The Lizzie McGuire actress in remembering Carter.

One wrote, ‘Beautiful said Hilary. The episode of Aaron on lizze McGuire is forever one of the best memories of my childhood!!!!’

Another shared, ‘My teenage self loved some Aaron Carter too!! ❤️❤️ may he rest in peace.’

Law enforcement said they received a 911 call at 11 a.m. on Saturday, saying ‘a male had drowned in the tub.’

They were contacted by a house sitter, who had found his body

Homicide detectives said there is no information or evidence of foul play at this time.

After emergency services had been spotted outside Carter’s Lancaster home, a coroner was seen removing Carter’s body.

Carter rose to fame as a child star, first as a singer and later as an actor in film and television shows like ‘Lizzie McGuire’ and ‘7th Heaven.’

New Kids on the Block released a statement on their Instagram to honor the singer.

The band wrote, ‘We are shocked and saddened about the sudden passing of Aaron Carter. Sending prayers to the Carter family. Rest in peace, Aaron.’

Carter, who opened for the Backstreet Boys on a 1997 tour, shot to fame in the 90s releasing four studio albums, starting with his self-titled debut album in 1997 when he was only 9 years old.

Another tribute: Courtney Stodden also shared a tribute to Aaron on her Instagram writing, ‘He called me, confided but I stepped away due to threats by surrounding people. I hoped he’d heal but now he’s at peace … I’m so gutted’

The troubled celebrity is survived by his son Prince.

Prince’s mother and on-again-off-again girlfriend, Melanie Martin, posted to Tik Tok crying just minutes after the announcement.

Martin can be seen driving while crying into the camera which is filming the short video.

She released a statement later Saturday: ‘My fiancé Aaron Carter has passed away. I love Aaron with all my heart and it’s going to be a journey to raise a son without a father.

‘Please respect the privacy of my family as we come to terms with the loss of someone we love greatly. We are still in the process of accepting this unfortunate reality. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.’

The video was posted to Instagram just a day before the shock announcement.

Martin was spotted later Saturday in tears arriving at Carter’s Lancaster home.

Actor, Todd Bridges, who portrayed Willis Jackson on the sitcom Different Strokes and had a recurring role as Monk on the sitcom Everybody Hates Chris also posted a tribute to Carter.

He wrote, ‘Addiction is a Horrible battle. It’s a fight you can never stop fighting. Some of us get out to start over and some of us don’t make it.

‘God still loves us all not matter what. God and my mom and me saved my life. RIP. Aaron carter my brother in Arms.’

Transgender actress and model, Plastic Martyr also wrote a loving tribute to Aaron.

‘Aaron Carter was one of the first friends I made in LA. He was so supportive through my transition & was always a genuine friend.

‘He introduced me to my first acting coach & helped me in more ways that I think he realized. I’ll miss you. I wish I could hug you 1 last time. RIP.’

In 2019, he revealed on ‘The Doctors’ that he was diagnosed with ‘multiple personality disorder, schizophrenia, acute anxiety and manic depression,’ according to CNN.

Aaron publicly feuded with many, including his brother Nick, whom he accused of trying to put him under a conservatorship, similar to the one placed on Brittney Spears.

Carter has two sisters, one of which is his twin, Angel and Leslie, who passed away in 2012 at the age of 25 from a drug overdose.

Leslie’s death was a significant break in the relationship between the siblings, particularly Nick.
