I don’t have a house in the UK – Buhari tells King Charles III
President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, told King Charles III that he doesn’t own a house in the United Kingdom.
Buhari met with the monarch at Buckingham Palace in the UK on Wednesday.
The meeting between the two leaders was the first since the ascension of King Charles III to the throne.
Buhari had travelled to the UK for medical checkup on October 31.
Tolu Ogunlesi, special assistant to the president on digital and new media, in a Twitter post on Thursday, shared a video of Buhari speaking on what he discussed during the meeting with the monarch.
“He asked me whether I have a house here. I said ‘no’. Even in Nigeria, the only houses I have are those I had before I got into government,” Buhari said.
“I’m not very much interested in having assets all over the place. I feel much freer when I have nothing.”
Over the years, Buhari had visited the UK at different times for medical checkup.
As of April 2021, Buhari had spent a total of 171 days on medical vacation in the UK.
