KWASU suspends ALL activities for one week over VC Muhammad Akanbi’s death

The Kwara State University (KWASU) has suspended all academic activities for one week following the death of Muhammad Akanbi, its vice-challencor.

According to NAN, Kikelomo Salle, the institution’s registrar, announced this in a statement on Monday.

Akanbi was said to have died on Sunday night in Ilorin, the state capital.

Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the state governor, confirmed his death in a tweet.

Speaking on the development, Salle said the one-week suspension of activities was to allow the insitution mourn the VC and commemorate with his family.

The registrar said the suspension takes effect from Monday till November 27.

“KWASU has announced the suspension of all activities in the university from Monday to Nov. 27 to mourn the death of Akanbi,’’ the statement reads.

“As we all mourn the passing of Akanbi which sad event occurred on Sunday, a one week of mourning has been declared by the university.

“All activities are hereby suspended in the university from Nov. 21 till Nov. 27, for us to mourn this immense loss.

“I urge everyone to put the wife, children and family of Prof. Akanbi in prayers as well as the university.

“May Allah forgive his sins, widen his grave and grant him admission into Jannatul Firdaus. May the university community never again witness such an unfortunate loss.”
