JAMB makes important announcement to take effect today
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says candidates without personal emails will not be able to register for the 2023 UTME from January 31.
Fabian Benjamin, the board’s head of public affairs and protocol, announced the latest directive in a statement on Monday.
Benjamin said the directive followed a review of the board’s advisory on the ongoing UTME registration.
He added that the initiative is to ensure that best practices are followed in the process of capturing all relevant data pertaining to the candidates.
The JAMB spokesperson also said the email is imperative for facilitating the transmission of urgent and vital communication to candidates cheaply and efficiently.
Benjamin called on candidates to get an email before continuing with UTME registration.
“Furthermore, the e-mail provides more flexibility in communication and is a more professional way of reaching out to candidates. Candidates are, therefore, advised to get their genuine e-mail addresses before proceeding for UTME registration,” he said.
“In addition, candidates are to ensure that their passwords are kept securely as the board does not retrieve lost e-mail passwords or change e-mail addresses once registered.”
Registration for this year’s UTME started on January 14 and is scheduled to end on February 14.
The exam is billed to commence on April 29 and will end on May 12.
