Jerry Springer dies at the age of 79
The legendary TV host, who presented his eponymously-named tabloid chat show for 27 years, died at his home in the Chicago area, according to reports.
A family spokesperson told TMZ he died this morning at his home in the Chicago area.
The presenter was famous for his raucous tabloid talk show, named “Jerry Springer”, which he always ended with the catchphrase: “Take care of yourself and each other”.
The show aired for 27 seasons and nearly 5,000 episodes from 1991 to 2018.
He also hosted America’s Got Talent from 2007 to 2008.
Springer was born in 1944 in Highgate underground station in London.
His parents, who were German-Jewish refugees, were in the station sheltering from a German bombing raid during the Second World War at the time.
