Police to sanction officer who opened car door for Charles Okocha in viral video
The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) says it will sanction the officer spotted in a viral video opening a car door for Charles Okocha, the film star.
On Thursday, Okocha shared a video of himself while he visited his daughter in school.
In the video, a police officer can be seen opening the door of a car for the movie star.
“I was missing my adorable & phenomenal daughter @mercy__okocha had to rush down to her school to see her ❤️❤️❤️ Love you forever my little angel,” he wrote on Instagram.
However, reacting to a Twitter post of the incident, Olumuyiwa Odejobi, the police force public relations officer, said the officer showed a “lack of respect and self-esteem.”
This is wrong. A policeman opening car door for a celebrity. Our policemen aren't slaves. @PoliceNG and @Princemoye1 do something. Check out Charles Okocha's video! #TikTok https://t.co/vOjGvKxkwp

Odejobi said the police would investigate the matter and subsequently sanction the officer.
He added that Okocha should have asked his personal assistants to play such a role instead of a police officer.
“This is bad and shameful. We will find out and sanction the policeman, even query the source of the approval for such deployment,” he wrote on Twitter.
“In most cases, the policemen in this situation too lack respect and self-esteem.
“How would you be opening doors for a young man.? Doesn’t he have a PA? Or aides that can do that for him?”
