Tragic video shows father Lee Borrett and son, playing weeks before the pair were found dead
Footage has emerged of a father and son at the centre of a suspected murder-suicide playing on a park merry-go-round just weeks before their deaths.
The clip shows Lee Borrett, 41, and his five-year-old son Timotej Borrett having fun on the small carousel with two other children. The duo, from Leicester, appear to have no concerns in the world as they enjoy the playground ride.
Borrett and his son were found dead at a house on Monday night after he lost custody of the boy, friends said. Little Timotej’s mother, named locally as Veronika Guzlejova, was seen to collapse in the driveway of the former family home after being told her estranged partner and their child were dead inside.
The couple had separated three years ago and Mr Borrett, a warehouse worker, initially had custody of the car-mad boy.
But friends and neighbours in Glen Parva, Leicester said a court had recently granted Slovakian Miss Guzlejova custody of the child, who was known by the anglicised name of Timmy.
In a tribute released through police yesterday, Timotej’s family said the boy was ”very much loved by his mother and partner, and their families’.
The statement added: ‘He was very bright and creative. He always brightened the room everywhere he went.
‘He was brave and strong and words cannot describe how much he will be missed. ‘We hope he will now be at peace and he will be forever in our hearts.’
The distraught mother discovered what had happened to her son after travelling to the mid-terraced house on Monday evening when Borrett failed to return the boy to her following an access visit.
A Slovakian woman who was friends with both Mr Borrett and Miss Guzlejova told the Mail: ‘She sent me a message saying that Lee had killed Timotej and then killed himself. She said the boy looked like he was sleeping.’
