Painting of little girl has been returned twice after leaving owners creeped out by her eyes

A ‘haunted portrait of a stern-faced little girl was returned twice to a charity shop in Hastings leading the store managers to label it ‘cursed’.

The crude painting, which features a young girl in a red dress glaring haughtily into the distance, was donated to Hastings Advice Representation Centre (HARC) shop in St Leonards-on-Sea.

The Telegraph reports that the painting had originally been donated by a middle aged man along with some frames.

The store’s manager Steve remarked that the ‘creepy’ little girl had ‘eyes that follow you around the room.’

Originally priced at £25 it was soon sold to it’s first owner, however their union was short lived as less than two days later she returned.

Steve explained: ‘She said ‘I’ve got to get rid of this picture’ and that it had an ‘aura about it’, so we put it in the window [with a sign] saying ‘possibly cursed.”

The marketing tactic worked and the image was soon sold again to a new woman who immediately returned ‘shaky and distressed’ saying ‘she never wanted to see the damned thing again.’

This led to the store once again slapping a warning on the picture: ‘She’s back!!! Sold twice and returned twice! Are you brave enough.’

After an image of the sinister brat was shared on social media and garnered attention, the second owner returned to the store and retook possession of the painting.

Steve explained: ‘The last person was terrified, she couldn’t have it, but then she saw it had so many views she changed her mind. She thinks now it’s got some sort of monetary value.

‘This morning she rang me up saying, ‘I bought your picture, can I have it back?’ She’s decided she’s no longer scared and she can put up with it.

‘She wanted to buy it back and she had it back for free.

‘None of them [the picture’s former owners] wanted a refund. We priced it at £25 and at £20. It said ‘cursed’ and we thought it was, so it did everything it said on the tin.
