British singer Faye Fantarrow tragically dies at 21 after battling a rare brain tumour
British singer Faye Fantarrow has tragically died aged just 21. The songstress, from Sunderland, died at home last Saturday after a brave battle with a rare glioma brain tumour, a year after she was diagnosed.
The family issued a statement announcing Faye’s passing and said they were ‘heartbroken’ as they paid tribute.
Her mother, Pam, said: ‘Faye had wisdom, compassion and understanding beyond her years.
‘We are beyond grief. We are beyond repair. We are cast adrift, before despair. We are bereft of a love that outshone the stars, the moon and the sun.
‘There is a gaping void in our lives that can never be filled, our beautiful, compassionate, intelligent and immensely talented girl has gone.
‘Faye fought with strength and bravery that kept her with those she so desperately loved and who loved her beyond compare.
‘Faye was the sun, the light, the life we all gravitated to and wanted to be near, she gave us joy, laughter, and the gift of her music, she was the kindest most generous sol who had so much living left to do shine bright my baby.’
Faye was diagnosed with the rare glioma in her brain in September last year.
It was a devastating blow for the family as she had twice beaten leukaemia after being diagnosed with cancer when she was aged eight and 18, where she had a bone marrow transplant.
Faye had radiotherapy and chemotherapy and raised more than £265,000 towards treatment in America after being diagnosed last year.
Faye was mentored by Dave Stewart from Eurythmics. He paid tribute to her on Instagram and wrote: ‘She broke the mould, this breaks my heart.’
The singer had recorded tracks from her new EP with him in the Bahamas in last summer after she was signed to Stewart’s Bay Street Records label in 2021.
