Duane ‘Keefe D’ Davis arrested over murder of Tupac Shakur
In a significant development, Las Vegas detectives have recently arrested Duane ‘Keefe D’ Davis, a 60-year-old gang leader, on charges of murder with the use of a deadly weapon in connection with the long-standing case of Tupac Shakur’s murder.
This arrest has brought a mix of emotions for Mopreme Shakur, Tupac’s step-brother, who described it as “bittersweet.”
Mopreme Shakur expressed his sentiments to CNN, saying, “We have endured decades of pain. They have been aware of this individual who has been openly talking for years. So, why has it taken so long? For us, this isn’t closure. We want to understand why now and whether there were any accomplices involved.”
Notably, a Netflix documentary had previously implicated Davis’ nephew as the shooter in Tupac’s murder. Davis, a prominent figure in the Compton Crip gang, has openly boasted about his involvement in Tupac’s killing in various books and interviews. He even authored a memoir in which he confessed to his role in the fatal shooting of the hip-hop legend.
According to Davis’ own account in a 2018 documentary, he was in the car with his nephew, Orlando ‘BabyLane’ Anderson, during the incident. Davis admitted to passing the murder weapon to his nephew, who then fired the fatal shots.
Tupac Shakur was just 25 years old when he was shot four times in the chest on September 7, 1996, in Las Vegas. He tragically passed away on September 13.
Davis provided further details about his involvement in the shooting in his 2019 tell-all memoir titled ‘Compton Street Legend,’ revealing that he was present in the Cadillac during the incident.
This recent arrest and the reopening of this cold case have generated significant interest and questions about the timing of these developments, leaving both the Shakur family and the public seeking answers and closure to this decades-old mystery.
