DJ Switch Critiques Pastor Adeboye’s Call for Prayer in Nigeria
Nigerian DJ, Obianuju Catherine Udeh, known as DJ Switch, has criticized Pastor Adeboye for what she perceives as double standards.
DJ Switch pointed out that the founder of The Redeemed Christian Church frequently calls on Nigerians to pray for the country but does not address the root causes of Nigeria’s problems. She highlighted that the clergyman does not hold the government accountable for its failure to serve the people, yet he is quick to call for prayers.
In her statement, she emphasized that Jesus, whom Christians worship, openly confronted corruption. She wrote, “Pastor Adeboye constantly urges Nigerians to pray for Nigeria… but rarely calls out the cause of Nigeria’s woes! Rarely calls them out for a failure to serve. The Jesus you worship served and called out corruption point blank! Some of una go say touch not my anointed! Anointing wey no dey anoint.”
This critique follows Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s recent prayer for healing in Nigeria during the October Thanksgiving Service and Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Day celebration at the church’s headquarters in Ebutte Metta.
DJ Switch has previously criticized Pastor Adeboye on multiple occasions. A few months ago, she expressed her disapproval of the clergyman’s expression of hope in President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rebuild Nigeria with divine assistance.
She questioned his silence during the election period when Nigerians needed his voice the most. She noted that he had remained quiet when his associates were involved in injustices and the oppression of citizens.
However, she found it inconsistent that he had suddenly found his voice and was calling for the president-elect to fix the country.
