Indian policemen caught on camera throwing accident victim’s body into canal (video)
In India, a significant controversy has arisen following the release of a viral video depicting police officers disposing of the remains of a road accident victim in a canal.
The video, which gained widespread attention after being shared on Sunday, October 8, 2023, captures three uniformed police officers from Bihar State’s Muzaffarpur district carrying the injured victim, covered in blood, to a bridge barrier. Subsequently, the officers can be seen pushing the lower half of the body over the bridge, into the waters below.
In response to the public outcry, Rakesh Kumar, a Senior Superintendent of Police in Muzaffarpur district, has acknowledged that the officers made a significant error in judgment. Consequently, the officers have been suspended pending further investigation.
Kumar explained that the accident victim, an elderly man whose identity remains unknown, had suffered severe injuries when he was struck by a speeding truck. Due to the extensive damage to the lower half of the body, the decision was made to dispose of it in the canal, while the upper half was sent for post-mortem examination.
This incident has ignited a significant controversy in India, prompting discussions about proper procedures and accountability within law enforcement agencies.
