Presidency finally breaks silence on Tinubu’s Chicago certificate
Temitope Ajayi, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Tinubu, has refuted allegations of a forged certificate presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Ajayi clarified that Chicago State University (CSU) has confirmed the authenticity of President Tinubu’s academic credentials.
In a statement posted on his official social media account, Ajayi emphasized that CSU, under oath, affirmed President Tinubu’s attendance and graduation from the institution. Furthermore, the university clarified that it does not handle replacements for lost certificates.
Ajayi strongly asserted that the claims of forgery lack merit, highlighting that an individual cannot forge academic records they already possess. He stated, “You can only forge what you don’t have.”
These developments follow a petition by the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, who had sought CSU’s academic records to support allegations of certificate forgery against President Tinubu. The presidential election court ultimately dismissed these forgery allegations in the legal challenge against President Tinubu’s election.
