Mr Ibu’s adopted daughter, Jasmine Okafor reacts to news of her arrest over alleged N55m scam
Jasmine Okafor, the adopted daughter of veteran actor, Mr Ibu has reacted to the news of her arrest over an alleged N55m scam.
The Nigerian police had arrested her and one of Me Ibu’s sons, Daniel Onyeabuchi for allegedly defrauding the actor of the sum of N55 million.
According to the statement, the FCID received a petition from his wife, alerting them of their plans to defraud her husband while on his sick bed. His wife, Stella who was managing the funds was manipulated by Stella and Daniel who took possession of Mr Ibu’s phone, hacked into his bank details, and successfully took full charge of his banking activities.
Investigation further unearthed text messages via WhatsApp between Jasmine and Daniel detailing how they conspired and hatched their criminal plans. It was also exposed that the two had a sham marriage at the Ikoyi Magistrate Registry with plans to escape from the country to the UK where they intended to settle with their proceeds of crime.
Reacting to the news, Jasmine via a blog’s comment section sarcastically stated that the figures she had been accused of were wrong as she had stolen 1 billion.
She stated that she was responding live from Kiri Kiri prison.
“Wrong figure it was actually 1 billion ooh! Unna mind no go touch ground
Responding live from Kiri Kiri”.
This news is coming just a few days after reports that Jasmine and Mr Ibu’s son had been rearrested by the police and locked up in the cell awaiting court charges. The reports also stated that the ailing actor was recuperating and had ordered his possessions to be handed to his wife.
Jasmine, who had been inactive on social media, shut down the report as she shared a video of her and actor, Deyemi Okanlawon having a swell time.
